Preschool -- Pre-Kindergarten
Ages 3 - 5

Saint Joseph Catholic School offers two different preschool programs; a three-year old class (two days per week) and a four-year-old class (three days per week). These programs are designed to give children a first experience of learning within a faith-filled and loving context. We believe that all children are unique and special individuals that develop in their own time and pace. Our program will:

• Give children a wonderful opportunity to grow and explore
• Provide a loving, secure environment in which children will develop spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually.
• Develop strong character in young children by offering healthy Catholic values, a positive self-image and a spirit of sharing.

Preschool Three-year-old Class

Morning program: Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Afternoon program: Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Tuition: $1,750 per school year. Registration fee: $75 per child.
Child(ren) must be 3 by September 15th of current school year.

Our three-year-old program focuses on social interaction through group related activities. Each month we work on a theme and incorporate our activities, art and circle time around that theme. The journey into literacy
begins through story telling. Children are introduced to concepts of letters, numbers, shapes and colors. They work on fine motor skills, such as cutting and coloring and use different art techniques. Music, story time and free play also play an important role in every school day.

Pre-Kindergarten Four-year-old Class

Morning program: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Afternoon program: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuition: $1,950 per school year. Registration fee: $75 per child. Child(ren) must be 4 by September 15th of current school year.

For the four-year-olds, an emphasis is placed on Kindergarten readiness. This program features a new letter of the alphabet each week. Our objective is for children to understand that each letter of the alphabet makes a different sound and when you put the letters together they form words. Children learn to recognize the letters and the sound that each represent. Science and math concepts are explores through hands-on activities. Music, art and physical activity help to develop an early love of learning.

Religion

Woven throughout the curriculum is an introduction to the wonder of God’s creation. Children are taught that each person is a special gift from God. We follow the curriculum from “Stories of God’s Love”. This program teaches children Scripture stories that tell of God’s love and connects these stories to their daily life. Prayers and songs are an integral part of class.
