Saint Joseph's Sacramental
Preparation
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults:
Introduces adults to the Catholic faith and community. Intended for those who wish to investigate membership in the Roman Catholic Church. Ordinarily the process begins in the fall, the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) are celebrated at the Easter Vigil. The process offficially concludes about a month after Easter.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Children:
Introduces children ages 7 and above to the Catholic faith and community with parish and family focused activities. Ordinarily the process begins in the fall; the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) are celebrated at the Easter Vigil (unless another year is needed). The process concludes about a month after Easter.


Baptism of Infants:
Scheduled for registered (at least four months), active parishioners who have completed the required pre-baptismal instructions. It is recommended that those requirements be met during pregnancy.

Confirmation for Adults:
Adult Catholics wishing to be confirmed participate in a process involving weekly sessions beginning in January. Confirmation is celebrated on Pentecost.

Marriage Preparation:
Marriage preparation must begin at least 8-12 months prior to a couple's anticipated wedding date. The Archdioecese divides this peroid into proximate (the first several months) and immediate (the last two months) preparation. During this time, couples prepare for their scarament through a manageable series of meetings and educational workshops.


Anointing of the Sick:
Anointing provides spiritual comfort and healing in the time of illness. Anointings will be held monthly. Watch the bulletin for dates and details. Priests are also to celebrate this sacrament at the beginning of a hospital stay or the onset of a serious illness.
